Since 1990, the Rhoda Lubalin Fellowship is awarded annually by the Herb
Lubalin Study Center to selected senior graphic-design students at The
Cooper Union. Endowed in 1987 by Rhoda Lubalin in honour of her late
husband Herb Lubalin, the Fellowship is a research-based project that
uses the Study Center’s collection as an entry point. Students develop
a project prompted by the collection as well as their own interests
and curiosity. The final projects are added to the archive and expand
the conversation around design.
Presented here is a digital archive of projects created by Rhoda Lubalin
Fellowship recipients. The completed projects have varied over the years,
ranging from websites to zines, performances, publications, exhibitions,
lectures, and other media.
