Neo New York
Rachel Mendelsohn, Troy Kreiner
Rachel Mendelsohn and Troy Kreiner received the fellowship to help facilitate NEO NEW YORK. NEO garnered applications through a bespoke website designed by the team and the week-long event included professionally led workshops, a lecture series and a culminating exhibition at 41 Cooper along with a publication and playlist.

The group worked for a week at 41 Cooper Gallery, comprised of 34 participants from 10 different countries, led by including Paul Sahre, Maja Cule, K-Hole, Jake Yuzna, Alexandra Gorcyznski and Marisa Olson. The program promoted free and creative education under the guidance of local creative practitioners. The workshops aimed to blur the boundaries between art and critical thinking and emphasized design-thinking and interdisciplinary modes of making.

The group worked for a week at 41 Cooper Gallery, comprised of 34 participants from 10 different countries. The workshop was funded by a self-initiated Kickstarter as well as the Rhoda Lubalin Fellowship.

The Neo NY publication included contributions (visual and written) from a variety of creatives including the workshop founders, workshop leaders, Eike König, Benjamin Critton and more. It is intended as an artifact; a collection of images and text exploring the term “Visual Thinking.” Each cover unique with a sticker from the established visual identity featuring NY-specific illustrations.
